Are you prone to vomiting after eating or misusing diet aids, or enemas are methods employed by anorexics to control their weight. This way they have control of their weight. On the surface, it looks like it’s all about food, but it’s not.  It’s an unhealthy way of coping with emotional problems.

Anorexia nervosa affects some 84,000 Irish people today and the numbers keep growing. Characterized by emaciation, a relentless pursuit of thinness and unwillingness to maintain a normal or healthy weight.

Also, a distortion of body image and intense fear of gaining weight. A lack of menstruation among girls and women, and extremely disturbed eating behaviour. Some people with anorexia lose weight by dieting and exercising excessively. Others lose weight by self-induced vomiting, or misusing laxatives, diuretics or enemas.

Many people see themselves as overweight, even when they are starved or are clearly malnourished. Eating, food and weight control become obsessions. Those with anorexia typically weighs themselves repeatedly, portions food carefully, and eats only very small quantities of certain foods. Some who have anorexia recover with treatment after only one episode. Others get well but have relapses. Many have a more chronic form of anorexia, in which their health deteriorates over many years as they battle the illness.

According to some studies, people with anorexia are up to ten times more likely to die as a result of their illness. Compared to those without the disorder. The most common complications that lead to death are cardiac arrest, and electrolyte and fluid imbalances. When the emotional strain become too much for the individual, suicide may also result.

But it is not all bad news – recovery is very possible – help is available.

Anorexia is a very treatable mental health condition which responds very well to talk therapy. Unfortunately, this emotion is at a subconscious level and treatment at any other level is futile. To gain access to the subconscious conflict we use hypnosis. Now it has to be said that hypnosis is not a therapy. What happens whilst a person is in hypnosis is the therapy, hence the title “HypnoAnalysis”. A very unique form of therapy. Hypnotherapy or (suggestion therapy) is the one you read about when the media prints a story.

HypnoAnalysis is a very direct form of therapy which takes the client to the emotional cause of their presenting condition. (an eating disorder) Once discovered and released the presenting condition (your symptom) soon vanishes and normality returns over the coming weeks and months.

All of this can happen within a twelve-week period. Only, one hourly session once a week and should therapy proceed beyond the twelve sessions, then I will not charge. Mind you, depending on the age of the sufferer, it could be a whole lot less.
